An extensive track record in health research, academic writing and evaluation, spanning public health, cancer research, mental health, suicide prevention, clinical trials and health-services improvement. Early career work as a clinical trials researcher in Haematology at RD&E, contributing to national and international studies including haematology and gynaecological oncology.
Research experience includes qualitative thematic analyses, narrative and realist reviews, service evaluations and population-level public health assessments. Publications include work on improving outcomes for doctors under pressure, suicide risk in medical professionals, resilience training, education in medical schools, and cancer patient experience, contributing to Psycho-Oncology, BMJ-supported programmes, and the national lung cancer screening programme protocol (SOPS).
Research presented nationally and internationally, including posters and oral presentations at BTS, ERS and European cancer conferences. Current NIHR-aligned research contributions include CAOS and CARES, addressing staff wellbeing, lung cancer pathways and innovations in population screening. Part of the CARES research programme (NIHR), which seeks to understand and improve challenging environments and culture via government policy outcomes and influencing change. Author and co-author of publications and book chapters in this subject area.
Senior leadership roles requiring detailed engagement with national frameworks, public health strategies and policy implementation, contributing to national cancer programmes, staff wellbeing initiatives, Primary Care Trust-level planning, and NIHR-affiliated research. Sits on national and regional boards, including Target Ovarian Cancer UK and lung cancer screening governance structures, where currently RA national chair.
Holds an International Diploma in Corporate Governance (2024), supporting ethical oversight, risk processes, transparency and high-quality governance, and remains affiliated with this organisation.
